Description: 

If you want training that goes way beyond just preparing you to enter the workforce as a weatherization technician, you are in the right place!  Mr. Lessard is an exciting and engaging instructor who shares decades of practical experience and insight.  Students will learn about the workings of world energy, setting the building envelope boundaries, correct ways to install insulation materials, air sealing, the makeup of various residential framing structures and how to treat them, manufactured housing, weatherization quality testing, blower doors, infrared imaging, weatherization safety, combustion appliance zones and safety, energy codes in use in Maine and beyond and how to apply them.  Students will also gain an understanding of how important their role in weatherization is to global energy conservation, our environment, and enriching the lives of their clients.

Throughout the course, Mr. Lessard uses scenario-based examples to explore real world energy improvement concepts and practices.  Students will learn specific and important financial gains realized in energy modelling using different levels of code compliance.

This is an exciting and motivating course that delivers comprehensive training to prepare you to be a safe, knowledgeable, and efficient weatherization technician.  Anyone who seeks employment with agencies that provide weatherization services, building construction, remodeling work, building materials stores, and facilities workers, as well as homeowners and do-it-yourselfers should take this course.

 

Course Format:

The course consists of eight modules of weatherization training.  Students can work together in a challenging and supportive learning environment.  All WINGsReality EDU courses are delivered in our powerful Learning Management system (LMS).  Each module contains an interesting and informative video presentation followed by a ten question Module Quiz.  The quizzes provide comprehensive feedback to the student on all subject matter covered.  Once a Module Quiz is completed, a library of on-topic resources is available for further review. 

Students have many opportunities to ask questions and receive excellent support throughout the program.  Interact with your instructor, utilize Toolbox Talk, your private social network to interact with other students and co-workers, or use the many other resources available.  You are not alone!  This is the most powerful building science training opportunity available in the world.

The course culminates with a final exam and a Certificate of Completion for successfully passing course requirements.

Admissions – All students must establish a User Account in the WINGsReality EDU system prior to enrolling in courses.  Once the user account has been established, students may enroll in any courses of their choosing.  Some courses may have prerequisite requirements.

Enrollment – Single user enrollments are offered on demand.  All transactions are processed via PayPal.  Upon completion of enrollment transaction, users have immediate access to all course materials.

Group enrollments are available to organizations that require training for multiple employees or members.  These groups will be invoiced by individual names at the time of enrollment.  Student enrollments are not transferrable.  Refunds are available in accordance with the Refund Policy below.

Duration of Enrollment – Enrollment in Weatherization Technician is active for 60 days.  After 60 days, the user will be unenrolled.  Please make sure to complete all course elements in that time frame.

Books and Materials – All required books and course materials are supplied in the Learning Management System (LMS).  Students will not need to purchase any additional books and materials.

Certificate of Completion – Upon meeting all course completion requirements, students will receive a certificate demonstrating successful completion of the Weatherization Technician course.

Refund Policy – Refunds are available prior to accessing the Module 2 Video presentation, less a 15% service fee.  Please allow 14 days to process refunds.
